I am a Certified Nursing Assistant with intensive education and training for skilled care and patient safety. I attained my education and knowledge in health care at the University of West Indies in 2002, the University of John Hopkins in 2008, and finally became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2009. I am also fluent in Spanish and Krio.
From 2014-2016, I worked at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation as the Assistant District Medical Officer in Sierra Leone. During my two years of tenure, I have been in charge of the coordination of all health activities in the Kono District to prevent infections and diseases. It is also my responsibility to render supervision and support to the hospital, especially during emergency operations. I also handled the financial vote control in the hospital and district to ensure that the finances are budgeted well and accurately to improve health care.
In 2004-2010, I worked as a volunteer in the United Nations Developmental Program in Trinidad and Tobago. I was tasked to provide daily active services in various health centers and render minor surgery assistance to the people of Tobago. Additionally, it is my job to provide health education and promotion exercises along with health supports in family planning and children’s immunization. I also visit the homes of patients to provide them with their much-needed health care services in the comfort of their homes. In my years of tenure, I was transferred to health centers around Trinidad and Tobago on a monthly basis to provide health aids to patients.
